  1. Product Description

    NEO Roof Paint is a water based, acrylic, durable roof coating.
  2. Application Areas

    • Cement tiles, new or weathered.
    • Fibre cement sheeting, new or weathered.
    • Plaster.
    • Previously painted substrates.
    • Primed metal and wooden substrates.

    Product Features

    • NEO Roof Paint is highly durable and UV resistant for the harsh Namibian climate.
    • Highly water resistant.
    • Excellent adhesion.
    • Low odour.
    • Quick drying - two coats can be applied in one day.
    • If correctly applied to a properly prepared substrate, the product has a life expectancy of 5 to 7 years, possibly longer.

    Spreading Rate 6–10 square metres per litre.
    Although the spreading rate will vary with porosity and type of substrate, for uncoated new surfaces work on 6-8 square metres per litre for the first coat and 8-10 square metres per litre for subsequent coats and when applied to sealed, previously painted substrates.
  4. Application Details

    • Mixing Always stir well before use with a flat paddle.
    • Application Method Brush, roller or airless spray.
    • Thinning NEO Roof Paint is ready for use un-thinned; thinning with water will reduce its hiding power.
    • Cleaning Water.
    • Application • Stir well before use.
    • Two coats of NEO Roof Paint are used for best results.
    • With brush, roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Roof Paint.
    • Allow to dry 4-6 hours before recoating.
    • With brush, roller or airless spray, apply a second generous coat.

    • NEO Roof Paint is ready for use un-thinned; thinning with water will reduce its hiding power.
    • Clean tools immediately after use with clean tap water.
    • Do not apply before 09:00 and after 16:00 in the winter.
    • Do not apply exterior if it looks like rain will occur within 4-6 hours of application.
  5. Surface Preparation

    • Mild Steel (Renovation) • Affected areas need to be cleaned back to bright metal and spot primed with NEO Corroguard (cg00). Use two coats of NEO Corroguard (cg00) in coastal regions.
    • Remove collected sand and dust from the roof.
    • With brush, roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Roof Paint.
    • Allow to dry 4-6 hours before recoating.
    • With brush, roller or airless spray, apply a second generous coat.
    • Mild Steel (New) • Degrease surfaces with NEO Metal Conditioner (mc00) to remove the manufacturer’s grease protective layer. This process is repeated until the surface is water break free.
    • Wash down complete roof with a mixture of one part NEO Metal Conditioner (mc00) and three parts of water.
    • Rinse well with potable water.
    • With brush, roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Roof Paint.
    • Allow to dry 4-6 hours before recoating.
    • With brush, roller or airless spray, apply a second generous coat.
    • No primer is required BUT one to two coats of NEO Corroguard (cg00) are recommended for the very harsh coastal regions.
    • Acrylic resin emulsions adhere excellently on to galvanised metal.
    • Uncoated cement tile surfaces • Remove dust, foreign material, fungal and algae growth.
    • Fill and seal all visible cracks with NEO Repair Paste (nrp07)
    • Apply one coat of NEO Bonding Liquid (ig00) to cover NEO Repair Paste (nrp07)
    • With brush, roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Roof Paint.
    • Allow to dry 4-6 hours before recoating.
    • With brush, roller or airless spray, apply a second generous coat.
    • Fibre Cement Surfaces (Uncoated, Weathered or New) • Remove dust, foreign material, fungal and algae growth.
    • If friable or powdery, seal with NEO Bonding Liquid (ig00).
    • With brush, roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Roof Paint.
    • Allow to dry 4-6 hours before recoating.
    • With brush, roller or airless spray, apply a second generous coat.
    • Can be applied directly on to the fibre cement surface.
    • Roofing Felt • NEO Roof Paint can be applied directly on to the roofing felt surface.
    • With brush, roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Roof Paint.
    • Allow to dry 4-6 hours before recoating.
    • With brush, roller or airless spray, apply a second generous coat.
    • In general there are no problems to be encountered when painting new material.
    • Old roofing felt where the paint coating is flaking and loose can be difficult to repaint. With such roofs, expert advice is required to assess the condition of the roofing felt.
    • Previously Painted Surfaces • Make sure old paint coatings are firm and solid.
    • Remove all loose, flaking and bubbling paint.
    • Remove all dust, grease, foreign material, fungal and algae growth.
    • Allow to dry.
    • If then powdery or friable, seal with NEO Bonding Liquid (ig00).
    • With brush, roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Roof Paint.
    • Allow to dry 4-6 hours before recoating.
    • With brush, roller or airless spray, apply a second generous coat.
  6. Colour Range and Quantities

    • NEO Roof Paint is available in Rooftile Red, Green Roof and Blue Roof only.
    • Available in 5 litres and 20 litres.
  7. Precautions

    • NEO Roof Paint is not flammable, contains no toxic substances and only low levels of VOC (EU regulations).
