  1. Product Description

A modified twin pack epoxy based, long-life, interior, abrasion and aggressive acid resistant high gloss coating for those high traffic areas that need a highly abrasion, water and chemical and acid resistant coating in a range of colours.
  2. Application Areas

    • Interior use only.
    • Dry plaster or concrete substrates.
    • Primed metal and wooden substrates.
    • Due to its unique formula this coating provides maximum protection in highly aggressive acidic environments such as battery rooms etc.
    • Further uses for NEO Epoxy Acid Resistant are food processing machinery and equipment, tables and benches on which foods are prepared, storage tanks for food, juices etc. and laboratory equipment.
  3. Product Features

    • Highly abrasion, acid and chemical resistant.
    • Highly washable, cleanable.
    • Excellent adhesion to range of properly prepared substrates.
    • High hiding power and film build.
    • NEO Epoxy Acid Resistant has been formulated to provide maximum protection against mineral acids such as hydrochloric-, phosphoric-, sulphuric acid, and also against the more destructive and aggressive fruit acids found in fresh fruits and juices accompanied by their enzymes.

  5. Application Details

    • Mixing Always stir well before use with a flat paddle.
    • Application Method Brush, mohair paint roller or airless spray.
    • Thinning NEO Epoxy Acid Resistant is ready for use un-thinned; thinning with NEO Epoxy Thinner (et02) will reduce its effectiveness. Only for spray application, thin to 20-25 sec. No. 4 Ford cup with NEO Epoxy Thinner (et02).
    • Cleaning NEO Epoxy Thinner (et02).
    • Application • Stir well before use.
    • NEO Epoxy Acid Resistant is ready for use un-thinned; thinning with NEO Epoxy Thinner (et02) will reduce its effectiveness.
    • Two coats of NEO Epoxy Acid Resistant are used for best results.
    • Mix the epoxy base with the polyamide curing agent in the correct ratio: 4 volumes epoxy base to 1 volume polyamide curing agent. Mix for 5 –10 minutes.
    • With brush, mohair roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Epoxy Acid Resistant. Only for spray application, thin to 20-25 sec. No. 4 Ford cup with NEO Epoxy Thinner (et02).
    • Allow to dry 18-24 hours, but no longer than 48 hours, before recoating.
    • Epoxy coatings must be used within a strict time sequence. Each coating must be within 48 hours after the previous one, otherwise there will be no proper bond between the coatings.
    • With brush, mohair roller or airless spray, apply a second generous coat of NEO Epoxy Acid Resistant.
    • Clean up application equipment with NEO Epoxy Thinner (et02).
    • Although the spreading rate will vary with porosity and type of substrate, for uncoated new surfaces work on 6-8 square metres per litre for the first coat and 10-12 square metres per litre for subsequent coats and when applied to sealed, previously painted substrates.
    • Only apply in well ventilated areas.
    • For interior use only.
    • Keep away from all ignition sources, flames and sparks.
    • Do not eat, drink or smoke while applying.
    • Do not apply before 09:00 and after 16:00 in the winter.
  6. Surface Preparation

    • Mild Steel (Renovation) • Affected areas need to be cleaned back to bright metal and spot primed with NEO Corrotec (ct00). Use two coats of NEO Corrotec (ct00) in coastal conditions.
    • Mild Steel (New) • Degrease surfaces with NEO Metal Conditioner (mc00) to remove the manufacturer’s grease protective layer. This process is repeated until the surface is water break free.
    • After drying, the whole substrate is coated with NEO Corrotec (ct00). Use two coats of NEO Corrotec (ct00) in coastal conditions.

    • With brush, mohair roller or airless spray, apply a second generous coat of NEO Epoxy Acid Resistant.
    • Raw / New Plaster
    • Dry, Uncoated and New Concrete Surfaces
    • Make sure plaster is firm and completely dry.
    • Plaster or concrete must be completely dry as water vapour cannot permeate through epoxy coatings.
    • Remove all dust, foreign material, fungal and algae growth.
    • Fill and seal all visible cracks with NEO Aurora Filler (ef00) or NEO Repair Paste (nrp07).
    • Apply one coat of NEO Bonding Liquid (ig00) to cover NEO Aurora Filler (ef00) or NEO Repair Paste (nrp07).

    • Previously Epoxy Painted Surfaces • Make sure old paint coatings are firm and solid.
    • Remove all loose, flaking and bubbling paint.
    • Remove all dust, grease, foreign material, fungal and algae growth.
    • Epoxy enamel does not adhere well on hard and fully cured epoxy coatings. The old coating must be prepared by sanding the product well to a matt and slightly rough surface.
    • After drying over night all primed areas and previously painted areas must then be overcoated with NEO Bonding Liquid (ig00).
    • Mix the epoxy base with the polyamide curing agent in the correct ratio: 4 volumes epoxy base to 1 volume polyamide curing agent. Mix for 5 –10 minutes.
