  1. Product Description

    Classical, long oil, alkyd based, long-life, interior / exterior, enamel high gloss coating. Meets the rigorous requirements of SABS 630-2 for high gloss finishes.
  2. Application Areas

    • Interior and exterior use.
    • Ideal finish for public buildings on doors, windows and walls of public conveniences in factories and workshops.
    • Primed plaster and concrete (Interior Walls only), hardboard and fibre cement walls as well as other man made fibre products.
    • Primed metal and wooden substrates.
  3. Product Features

    • Based on an alkyd resin with good UV light stability and excellent gloss retention.
    • Dries to a hard surface, is scratch resistant and easy to clean.
    • For high traffic interior and exterior areas that need a highly washable and durable coating in a wide range of colours.
    • Highly washable / cleanable. Resistant to general-purpose household detergents.
    • Excellent adhesion to range of properly prepared substrates.
    • High hiding power and film build.
    • The coating stays flexible for long periods, which is essential for use on exterior woodwork.
    • Two coats of NEO Dur High Gloss are applied for best results.

    Film Thickness 30-40 microns
    Spreading Rate 8-12 square metres per litre.
    Although the spreading rate will vary with porosity and type of substrate, for uncoated new surfaces work on 8-10 square metres per litre for the first coat and 10-12 square metres per litre for subsequent coats and when applied to sealed, previously painted substrates.

  5. Application Details

    • Mixing Always stir well before use with a flat paddle.
    • Application Method Brush, mohair paint roller or airless spray.
    • Thinning NEO Dur High Gloss is ready for use un-thinned; thinning with NEO Mineral Turpentine (mt00) or NEO Enamel Thinner (et01) or NEO Quick Enamel Thinner (qe00) will reduce its hiding power.
    Only for spray application dilute to 20-25 sec No. 4 Ford cup with NEO Enamel Thinner (et01) or NEO Quick Enamel Thinner (qe00).
    Do not add more than 5% thinner for brush or roller application.
    • Cleaning NEO Mineral Turpentine (mt00).
    • Application • Stir well before use.
    • Two coats of NEO Dur High Gloss are applied for best results.
    • NEO Dur High Gloss is ready for use un-thinned; thinning will reduce its hiding power. Only for spray application dilute to 20-25 sec No. 4 Ford cup with NEO Enamel Thinner (et01) or NEO Quick Enamel Thinner (qe00).

    • With brush, mohair roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Allow to dry 18-24 hours before recoating.
    • Apply a second generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Clean up application equipment with NEO Mineral Turpentine (mt00).
    • Only apply in ventilated areas, keep away from all ignition sources, flames and sparks.
    • Do not eat, drink or smoke while applying.
    • Do not apply before 09:00 and after 16:00 in the winter.
    • Although the spreading rate will vary with porosity and type of substrate, for uncoated new surfaces work on 8-10 square metres per litre for the first coat and 10-12 square metres per litre for subsequent coats and when applied to sealed, previously painted substrates.
    • Do not apply exterior if it looks like rain will occur within 4-6 hours of application.
  6. Surface Preparation

    • Mild Steel (Renovation) • Affected areas need to be cleaned back to bright metal and spot primed with NEO Corroguard (cg00), NEO Corrotec (ct00) or NEO Zinc Chromate (zc00).
    • For use in coastal regions apply two coats of NEO Corroguard (cg00).
    • Apply one coat of NEO Universal Undercoat (wu00).
    • With brush, mohair roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Allow to dry 18-24 hours before recoating.
    • Apply a second generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Mild Steel (New) • Degrease surfaces with NEO Metal Conditioner (mc00) to remove the manufacturer’s grease protective layer. This process is repeated until the surface is water break free.
    • After drying, the whole substrate is coated with NEO Corroguard (cg00) or NEO Zinc Chromate (zc00).
    • Apply one coat of NEO Universal Undercoat (wu00).
    • With brush, mohair roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Allow to dry 18-24 hours before recoating.
    • Apply a second generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Aluminium, Copper, Brass • The surface must be free from grease and oil.
    • Prime the surface with one coat of NEO Corrotec (ct00). The primer should be applied rather thin – a coating of 15-20 microns is sufficient.
    • With brush, mohair roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Allow to dry 18-24 hours before recoating.
    • Apply a second generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Fibre Cement Surfaces (Uncoated, Weathered or New) • Remove dust, foreign material, fungal and algae growth.
    • If friable or powdery, seal with NEO Acrylic Wall Primer (ap00).
    • With brush, mohair roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Allow to dry 18-24 hours before recoating.
    • Apply a second generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Raw / New Plaster
    • Dry, Uncoated Concrete Surfaces
    • Interior Walls only
    • Make sure surface is firm and completely dry.
    • Remove all dust, foreign material, fungal and algae growth.
    • Apply one coat of NEO Acrylic Wall Primer (ap00).
    • Repair any cracks, holes and blemishes with NEO Aurora Filler (ef00) or NEO Repair Paste (nrp07).
    • Apply one coat of NEO Bonding Liquid (ig00) to cover NEO Aurora Filler (ef00) or NEO Repair Paste (nrp07).
    • Sand well and remove dust.
    • With brush, mohair roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Allow to dry 18-24 hours before recoating.
    • Apply a second generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Previously Painted Surfaces
    • Interior Walls only
    • Make sure old paint coatings are firm and solid.
    • Remove all loose, flaking and bubbling paint.
    • Remove all dust, grease, foreign material, fungal and algae growth.
    • Sand glossy coatings until reasonably matt.
    • Repair any cracks, holes and blemishes with NEO Aurora Filler (ef00) or NEO Repair Paste (nrp07).
    • Apply one coat of NEO Bonding Liquid (ig00) to cover NEO Aurora Filler (ef00) or NEO Repair Paste (nrp07).
    • Allow to dry.
    • After drying over night, all primed areas and previously painted areas must be undercoated with NEO Universal Undercoat (wu00) for all surfaces.
    • Apply two coats of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    Existing PVA and Eggshell paint
    • Apply NEO Dur High Gloss directly onto existing PVA and Eggshell paint surfaces. 
    • No preparation is required.
    Existing high gloss paint
    • Sand existing gloss finish until reasonably matt.
    • Remove all dust with a moist cloth.
    • With brush, mohair roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Allow to dry 18-24 hours before recoating.
    • Apply a second generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Soft Board, Gypsum Board, Wood fibre Boards, Wall Partitioning, Solid Wood, Hard Board • Make sure substrate is free of dust and clean.
    • Sand if rough.
    • For interior use, apply one coat of NEO Universal Undercoat (wu00).
    • For exterior use and on untreated wood, apply one coat of NEO Pink Primer (pi00).
    • Repair any damages with NEO Repair Paste (nrp07).
    • Apply one coat of NEO Bonding Liquid (ig00) to cover NEO Repair Paste (nrp07).
    • Sand well and remove dust.
    • With brush, mohair roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Allow to dry 18-24 hours before recoating.
    • Apply a second generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Outside Wood Surfaces • Make sure wood is clean, free of dust and smooth.
    • Sand if rough.
    • Prime wood with one coat of NEO Pink Primer (pi00).
    • Should the wood surface be rough after the application of the primer and undercoat, sand well to a smooth surface.
    • With brush, mohair roller or airless spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
    • Allow to dry 18-24 hours before recoating.
    • Apply a second generous coat of NEO Dur High Gloss.
  7. Colour Range and Quantities

    • NEO Dur High Gloss is available in a range of popular ready mixed colours and on the NEO ColourWorks tinting system.
    • Available in 1 litre, 5 litres and 20 litres.
  8. Precautions

    • NEO Dur High Gloss is highly flammable and has a flashpoint of 37 degrees Celsius.
    • Use only in well ventilated areas and do not eat, drink or smoke during application.
    • This product contains no harmful or toxic solvents or substances.
