  1. Product Description

    A classic polyurethane / alkyd based, interior, scratch, water and alcohol resistant coating for new wood or existing varnished surfaces.
    NEO Plastic Varnish is a reasonably fast drying wood varnish for interior use. The varnished surface becomes very hard and scratch resistant.
    Gives a high gloss finish (also available in suede finish).
  2. Application Areas

    Interior use only.
    Properly prepared wooden or timber substrates.
    NEO Plastic Varnish is suitable for use on wooden furniture, windows, doors, door frames, skirting and panelling.
    Due to the good resistance to water and alcohol, bar counters and similar objects can be finished with NEO Plastic Varnish.
  3. Product Features

    NEO Plastic Varnish is based on an air-drying resin containing polyurethane.
    The varnish is a single pack system and easy to use.
    NEO Plastic Varnish dries to a very hard surface, which is resistant to water, alcohol and household detergents.
    The varnish coating is hardwearing and very scratch resistant.
    The varnish should only be used interior or on exterior objects not exposed to direct sunlight.
    Besides application with brush, NEO Plastic Varnish is ideal for use with a spray gun. A much smoother and even surface will be achieved.
    Excellent adhesion to properly prepared wooden substrates.
    Good water / alcohol mark resistance.
    Three coats of NEO Plastic Varnish are used for best results.

    Spreading Rate 6-12 square metres per 1 litre.
    Although the spreading rate will vary with porosity and type of substrate, for uncoated new surfaces work on 6-8 square metres per litre for the first coat and 10-12 square metres per litre for subsequent coats and when applied to sealed substrates.

  5. Application Details

    Mixing Always stir well before use with a flat paddle. 
    Application Method Brush or air spray. Paint roller application is not recommended.
    Thinning Brush application: apply the first coat diluted 10% with NEO Mineral Turpentine (mt00).
    Spray application: thin the NEO Plastic Varnish (gloss) to 17-19 sec Ford 4 cup with NEO Enamel Thinner (et01) or NEO Quick Enamel Thinner (qe00).
    Cleaning NEO Mineral Turpentine (mt00) or NEO Enamel Thinner (et01).
    Application Stir well before use.
    Sand and remove all dust.
    Three coats of NEO Plastic Varnish (gloss) are used for best results.
    Brush application: apply the first coat diluted 10% with NEO Mineral Turpentine (mt00).
    Spray application: thin the NEO Plastic Varnish (gloss) to 17-19 sec Ford 4 cup with NEO Enamel Thinner (et01) or NEO Quick Enamel Thinner (qe00).
    Allow to dry 4-6 hours before sanding again.
    Remove all dust.
    With brush or spray, apply two more generous coats leaving 4-6 hours between coats.
    Only apply in ventilated areas, keep away from all ignition sources, flames and sparks. 
    Do not eat, drink or smoke while applying.
    Do not apply before 09:00 and after 16:00 in the winter.
    Although the spreading rate will vary with porosity and type of substrate, for uncoated new surfaces work on 6-8 square metres per litre for the first coat and 10-12 square metres per litre for subsequent coats and when applied to sealed substrates.
    For interior use only.
    Clean up application equipment with NEO Mineral Turpentine (mt00) or NEO Enamel Thinner (et01).
  6. Surface Preparation

    New Wood Sand wood well to a smooth surface.
    Make sure wood is clean and free of dust.
    Apply one coat of NEO Plastic Varnish (gloss) diluted with approximately 10% NEO Mineral Turpentine (mt00).
    When dry, sand well again to a smooth surface.
    Apply another two coats of NEO Plastic Varnish (gloss) undiluted.
    Existing Varnished Surfaces Sand the wooden substrate well.
    Remove all dust.
    If the previously varnished area is firm and solid (no sign of flaking, peeling, cracking, etc.), sand down well until the surface is completely matt.
    Apply two coats of NEO Plastic Varnish (gloss) undiluted.
    But if the varnish shows signs of cracking etc., remove old varnish completely back to bare wood.
    Apply a thick layer of NEO Paint Remover (pr00) on the varnished surface. After about 15-20 minutes lift off the paint remover together with the varnish using a scraper.
    Rinse well with warm soap water to remove all traces of the paint remover.
    When dry, sand well and apply one coat of NEO Plastic Varnish (gloss) diluted with approximately 10% NEO Mineral Turpentine (mt00).
    When dry, sand well again to a smooth surface.
    Apply another two coats of NEO Plastic Varnish (gloss) undiluted.
    Never apply paint remover on veneer.
  7. Colour Range and Quantities

    NEO Plastic Varnish (gloss) is available in clear only.
    Available in 1 litre and 5 litres.
  8. Precautions

    NEO Plastic Varnish (gloss) is highly flammable.
    Use only in well ventilated areas and do not eat, drink or smoke during application.
    The product contains no toxic substances.
