TECHNICAL DATA SHEET NO. 04-Repair & Renovation
    JULY 2009

  1. Product Description

NEO Salt Stop is an unique, water based, ultra deep, penetrating, bonding and stabilising liquid/water repellent for interior and exterior plaster and concrete to prevent salts, water and alkaline substances being transported to the surface. Once the NEO Salt Stop has done its job, these areas can be over-coated with a range of NEO Paints’ water based decorative products.
  2. Application Areas

    • Interior and exterior use.
    • New, damp, dry, weathered plaster and concrete walls.
    • Powdery, friable, weathered, previously plastered areas.
  3. Product Features

    • NEO Salt Stop is a hydrophobic ultra deep penetrating primer for plaster and concrete. It creates a water repellent zone and prevents salts, water and alkaline substances from being transported to the surface.
    • Unlike a silicone treatment, NEO Salt Stop can be used after the penetration of salts and humidity has taken place. It displaces the harmful substances by the creation of a barrier and preventing further appearance of minerals on the surface of plaster.
    • NEO Salt Stop is a solvent free concentrate and must be diluted with water.
    • When NEO Salt Stop is applied on damp plaster substrate, penetration is improved.
    • The product is water vapour and carbon dioxide permeable and does not effect the breathing behavior of mineral substrates.
    • NEO Salt Stop also strengthens the plaster.
    • Excellent penetrating and binding properties - water, mineral and alkaline salts to rise to the surface.
    • Excellent adhesion.
    • Excellent alkaline resistant properties.
    • For old crumbly plastered substrates, the use of NEO Salt Stop allows the re-plastering of walls without the problem re-occurring.
    • Once the plaster is sealed, it can be top coated with a wide range of NEO Paints’ water based products.
